WAYS YOU CAN HELP

1. VOLUNTEER - We are always looking for people who can give some of their time helping with the lunch program, answering the phone, or conducting a program or activity such as exercise, dramatic arts or craft classes.

Below are some of our current volunteer needs.   If you have a particular skill you can offer, please don't hesitate to contact us.

  • Phone Assure Volunteers:
We call homebound senior citizens each weekday morning to see how they are doing and that they are okay. If they do not answer the phone we make arrangements for their contact person to check on them. We currently need volunteers for this program Thursday and Friday from 8:30-10:00.
  • Computer Assistant:
We have a small computer lab and Internet access for the seniors to use. Seniors are getting connected to the resources of the Internet and e-mail and could use help learning the basic computer skills and Internet searching and e-mailing skills.
  • Friday BINGO Caller:
From 12:30-2:30 each Friday afternoon there is a free and much-anticipated BINGO game with prizes. We need callers for this activity.
  • Kitchen Help:
We are a nutrition meal site. Already prepared meals are served to the seniors daily at Noon. We always need volunteers to help serve food and help with cleanup after lunch. Especially on Thurs., and Fri.
  • Games and Activities:
Daily we have card games, scrabble games, trivia, and many others going. It is nice to have volunteers to play these games with the seniors. Or just spend some time chatting with seniors. Socialization plays a huge role in healthy aging.
  • Create your own Project:
Do you have a hobby, interest, or special skill? Share it with the seniors by turning it into a one-time project, a weekly program, or give a presentation on it. For example, the senior ladies LOVE to have their nails painted. Other examples: play the guitar, present a slideshow, develop an art project.

2. DIRECT DONATION - Your tax deductible contribution this year will help us serve 14,000 hot noon meals or provide 5,200 rides to the Center or create dozens of intergenerational programs for elders and children.

3. MAKE AN IN-KIND DONATION - The Center is always in need of items that keep a meal program going: coffee, tea, salt, pepper, paper towels, cleaning supplies. Your gift will allow us to put our dollars toward programming.

4. MEMORIALS - In the memory of someone you love, help the senior center enhance the quality of life for elders in our community.
